- Chicken Marination
- 500 g chicken pieces
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 4 tbsp yoghurt
- 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 4 tsp chili powder

- Gravy
- 2 tbsp coconut oil or ghee
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 1.5 green chilies** (for extra spice)
- 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 1 cup tomato purée
- 4 tbsp fresh cream
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 2 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tbsp roasted and crushed fenugreek
- Salt to taste
Instructions to make to make Chicken Tikka Masala
- Before marinating, clean the chicken thoroughly.
- CHICKEN: Marinate the chicken pieces in a mixture of: 1 tsp salt, 2 tsp lemon juice, 4 tbsp yogurt, 2 tsp garlic paste, 4 tsp chili powder, and 1/2 tsp garam masala overnight or for at least one hour.
- CHICKEN: Fry the chicken pieces on medium heat for 2 mins then turn to other side for 2 mins, then flip and fry both sides on low heat for 3 mins each.
- GRAVY: Make the gravy: heat 2 tbsp ghee/coconut oil in same pan as chicken pieces and fry the chopped onions until light brown.
- GRAVY: Add 2 tsp ginger garlic paste, tomato purée, 1/4 tsp turmeric, 2 tsp chili powder, 2 tsp coriander powder, 1/2 tsp cumin powder and a pinch of salt and green chilies. Mix and fry on low heat for 2 minutes.
- Throw in chicken pieces and mix well. Add 250 ml water and 1 tsp garam masala. Cover and keep on low heat for 10 minutes.
- Add cream and cook on low heat for 2 minutes. Add the roasted fenugreek and cook for another 2 minutes.
